Swing!

My mom is on a plane headed back to Ohio now... poor thing. It's always so hard to say goodbye at the airport. And now it's even worse for her because she knows that Moana is going to change so much by the time she sees her again.

I remember telling my mom I was pregnant... seems like a lifetime ago... and her first reaction (after she jumped on me with joy) was tears at the thought that she wasn't going to really 'know' her grandbaby. These are the hard things about living on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Before I took her to the airport we went to a park in Kailua where Scott met us with lunch and we got to play with Moana on the swings. Boy, does she ever love that swing.

Mom and I actually took Moana to this park yesterday just to see if she would like the swing (or could sit in it). She squealed with joy as soon as she was in it.

Then today she got this huge smile on her face just looking at the thing. Two days in a row in the swing... I'm spoiling my daughter. Although today it was a treat she deserved because she endured three shots at the doctor's office. Boy can that baby scream.

It is hysterical how much babies love swings. It's funny to see Moana in the swing because she looks so much smaller than Zach in it. Man, my kid is huge.

Hopefully your mom can make it out to see you guys again soon. At least you live far away and in a wonderful place like Hawaii. You could live far away and live somwehere like the arctic tundra.

AS always, adorable pics. Moana seems like such a happy baby. I hear you on the grandma guilt, it breaks my heart that my mom won't get to know my daughter very well. She practically raised her other grandchildren. We are only 7 hours apart, but my mom isn't in the best health, so the drive is really tough on her. Do you guys have a webcam? I am getting one so my mom and I can have a weekly date.

Oh, she is cute! Look at those baby fat rolls and that huge smile! I miss that...
Your poor mom. I'm handcuffing my kids when they get out of school and forcing them to stay in New England.

She is seriously one of the cutest babies around!! I almost cried when you wrote about your mother leaving. Having a baby might be the tipping point for me in terms of moving closer to my parents - my in laws already have two grandaughters that live ten minutes from them and my parents only have two grown kids both of who live on the other side of the world! But one thing at a time I guess :o)

Moana definitely has some strong tri legs - glad she likes the swing!
