I am completely shocked. I was 100% prepared for the ultrasound tech to find nothing yesterday. I thought she was crazy when she said, "I think I see something..."
But sure enough, I saw it too. That teeny little pulsating blob of cells that was about the size of a grain of rice. There it was. Beating 111 times a minute.
I am just in total disbelief that my body was able to construct a little heart and make it start beating without giving me any real signs. I mean, I pride myself on 'knowing my body' but clearly I do not know my body like I thought I did.
I have been running and swimming lately like I am not pregnant at all. It's amazing that this little kid has been able to get started like he has. Scott and I are calling him Scrappy. Scrappy, Who Has A Will To Live.
That's all I'm going to write for today. I have a lot more to say about this, but it's Thanksgiving. I'll write the rest of my thoughts at another time.

:) small miracles x
YAY!! I am thrilled for you!!!
Oh, so happy for you. I had a good feeling but did not want to say anything. You mentioned "his" name is Scrappy! I, too, think he is a boy. I had one and heard from women who had boy and girl that pregnancies with boys are much easier. I only had nausea for 2 weeks, and then felt super all the way until the end!
So happy for you Michelle! You are amazing ! Happy Thanksgiving - ENJOY!
SO glad to hear that! Go Scrappy!
GO SCRAPPY GO!! A little miracle!! This made me smile, I'm so happy for you and your family!
glad everything is ok!!
I'm so glad! I was checking obsessively to see if you were oK! Yeah!
Woohoo!! I also caught the "he" comments...hmmmm!!! Funny that you have that intuition. Anyway, just so happy to read the news.
scrappy simmons. nice!
Yeah! Scrappy!
Yay Michelle!! :)
What a wonderful Thanksgiving present! :) So happy for you!
awesome news :)
That's just great! Keep in mind that YOUR body is a pretty amazing machine. IRONMAN! So running for two? Swimming for two? That's easy stuff for your body and no surprise that it can multitask and do it well :) Congratulations!
happy happy happy to read this. Welcome to the world Scrappy. :)
I will agree with Running and living...both pregancies for me were great. Just a few weeks of little nausea and fatigue then great the rest of the way. Although from what I've heard girls are nicer to your body than boys...boys make you gain it in the hips, butt and back pretty quickly.
glad it turned out alright!
Lots to be thankful for:) Hope you had a great thanksgiving and will have a great weekend!
"Scrappy" - fitting name for such a little fighter. :)
YEAH! So happy for you. And Rebecca mighbt be right, this pregnancy might feel different because that little blob of cells ins a boy.
Hey- that used to be my nickname. I'll tell you the story sometime. Yay for Scrappy!
so happy for you!!!! i had a few U/S early on for several reasons and it was amazing to see the miracle of life happening...especially between weeks 6-9...every few days it was like wow -- the neural tube closes on top and dumpling (aka the blob) becomes casper the ghost...i read somewhere that if the fetus kept developing at same rate as it does at 8 weeks he would weigh 5 tonnes at birth!!! i love your post and your honesty! have a great thanksgiving!
Truly something to be thankful for. Best wishes for an uneventful, healthy rest of your pregnancy.
happy Thanksgiving - happy for you.
so, so thrilled for you!
Hooray!!! What great news.
THIS is good news. I had to get onto your blog while in Arizona to see your update! YAY! :)))) Scrappy is RIGHT! WOW. :))
Yeah!!! I hadn't read this when I emailed you earlier and didn't want to ask(figured you'd spill when you were ready). Congratulations! I'm so happy for you! Go get 'em Scrappy!
